Dr. Rebecca Tsang is the newest member of The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore, joining the practice after working for nine years as a gastroenterologist at NorthShore University/Endeavor Health.

A North Shore native, Dr. Tsang grew up in Wilmette and Winnetka, and she is a graduate of New Trier High School. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Northwestern University and completed a post-baccalaureate program at the University of Pennsylvania while working in an ENT research laboratory. She eventually returned to Chicago for medical school at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where she obtained a dual MD/MPH degree. She completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Loyola University Medical Center and is now a board-certified gastroenterologist.

Dr. Tsang was inspired to pursue gastroenterology by her late father, who practiced in the North Shore community for many years. Growing up accompanying him to the hospital while he was on call and working at his office, she witnessed the meaningful relationships he built with patients which has shaped her own approach to care. The privilege of treating many of her father’s long-time patients during her time at Endeavor was a meaningful way for Dr. Tsang to honor his legacy.

Dr. Tsang practices general gastroenterology and cares for patients with a broad range of GI symptoms and conditions. She takes a holistic, patient-centered approach, recognizing that GI health is closely connected to daily life, mental well-being, and even other medical conditions. Her goal is not only to diagnose and treat disease, but it is also to enhance the overall quality of life. She values compassion and collaborative communication so patients feel heard, supported, and empowered in their care.

In addition, Dr. Tsang is committed to creating a calm, reassuring experience for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. Her gentle bedside manner and strong technical skills ensure that procedures such as upper endoscopies and colonoscopies are a good experience for patients.

Her previous experience includes research on Helicobacter pylori transmission and studies on the association between hypothyroidism and hepatocellular carcinoma. During her time at NorthShore University/Endeavor, she was heavily involved in medical education, serving as Associate Program Director of the GI Fellowship and GI Teaching Chief for the residency program. She received multiple teaching awards from the University of Chicago surgical department for her dedication to training surgery residents in procedural skills.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Tsang enjoys playing and watching tennis, with the goal of attending all four Grand Slams (as a spectator, not a competitor!).  She has also entered the world of speed-puzzling and will be competing at the national level for the third time in 2026. Additionally, Dr. Tsang enjoys adventurous travel and discovering new restaurants.

Dr. Tsang worked closely with Dr. Bianchi during their time at Endeavor and previously worked with Dr. Mehta at Evanston Hospital. She also knew Dr. Mehta earlier in her life, as he and her late father were partners at the same practice. She is delighted to join The Endoscopy Center of the North Shore and continue serving the North Shore community.
