Fecal transplants reduce hospital bills and length of stay
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT or “stool transplant”) reduced hospital stays and hospital costs for patients with recurrent Clostridioides difficile infection by 17 days and $26,500 (23,600 euros) each year on average, according to a study by Christian Hvas, MD, PhD, of the department of hepatology and gastroenterology at Aarhus University Hospital in Denmark. He can his colleagues published their study in Therapeutic Advances in Gastroenterology.
